Community Futures hosts or partners with other organizations to provide workshops, webinar learning events and training programs to the Cowichan Region throughout the year. See below for upcoming workshops and events.

Emerging Young Entrepreneurs Program

The Emerging Young Entrepreneurs (EYE) program will focus young people to use their own knowledge and abilities, and combine those with business training and mentors to set them up for success. This is a joint initiative between Community Futures  and Collective Space, a local initiative to “create space” for new emerging entrepreneurs to connect in the Cowichan. 

The EYE Program will provide an action-oriented learning environment to develop social entrepreneurship. It will teach business skills through a series of workshops, expert speakers, events and mentoring sessions - all linked together to offer well-rounded and relevant expertise to Young Social Entrepreneurs.  The Program is based on the pillars of: 

  • Emerging Young Entrepreneurship
  • Local Speakers sharing Expertise
  • Mentorship from Community Leaders
  • Business Fundamentals
  • Peer Support & Networking
  • Adult Learning Principals

PROGRAM SUMMARY

Length: 10 months 

Start Date: October 17, 2017

Learning Sessions: Every Tuesday, 7pm to 9pm

Phase One (16 weeks): provides weekly learning sessions on a variety of topics, such as financing/microloans, social media strategies, and legal questions.

Phase Two : which is self-directed; they are connected to peer-mentoring groups, have access to both shared co-working office space and an online hub; and are supported to create a crowd-funding program.

Cost: The first 10 participants are at no-charge

Location: Collective Space, 166 Station Street in Duncan
