Rural Economic Diversification Initiative (REDI-BC)
With funding made available through Western Economic Diversification Canada, the 34 Community Futures organizations across British Columbia are able to apply for funding for projects that will provide assistance to BC’s rural and remote communities seeking to diversify their economies in response to changing conditions. The REDI-BC project will enhance the ability of BC communities to adjust and diversify their economies, and to take advantage of new economic drivers.
Funding will be available between October 1, 2008 and March 31, 2012, to support REDI-BC projects submitted by its 34 affiliated Community Futures Development Corporations. Projects submitted for funding under REDI-BC must demonstrate a minimum total project cost of $100,000 and demonstrate that at least 40% of the funding is coming from sources other than REDI-BC. REDI-BC’s contribution will not exceed $200,000 for any one project.
A project eligible for REDI – BC funding will:
- Be made up of incremental activities
- Have clear measurable outcomes, and benefits
- Be distinct and different from on-going operational activities
- Be focused on one or more of the following strategic objectives:
- Technology Commercialization
- Trade and Investment
- Business Productivity and Competitiveness
- Rural Diversification
If your agency or business is looking to begin an initiative which meets the above criteria, email Community Futures Cowichan, or phone us at 250-746-1004, for more information or to discuss ideas or initiatives which may be eligible for REDI-BC funding.
